Ethical issues in TV - Pingu Episode
A very popularly remembered episode of the kids show titled "Pingu's Dream" was banned in the UK due to the scary imagery of one the seal giant character that frightened many children who watched it. The episode only continued to be shown in the United States and was released to DVD there. There have been multiple other episodes of the show also banned in various countries due to them either containing toilet/inappropriate humour or violence that doesn't appear as mild as the creators may have intended for children.
Advert - Philadelphia
Recently (August this year), a tv advertisement for Philadelphia cheese was banned and then altered to be more suitable. It contained two dads discussing being new parents and later shows their kids being left unattended in a potentially dangerous situation while they are distracted by food. This tied into issues of gender stereotypes as the advert conveyed the idea that men are bad parents, which resulted in an upset from viewers.
